Million of Years in The Making
Between 30 and 50 million years ago, volcanic eruptions blanketed the Big Bend region of West Texas in thick layers of ash. As that ash settled into an ancient inland sea, it slowly weathered into sodium bentonite — a clay mineral rich in montmorillonite, the mineral responsible for bentonite’s signature swelling and sealing power. This rare combination of volcanic origin, marine deposition, and geologic time is what gives Big Bend sodium bentonite its high swelling capacity and long-term sealing reliability.

What Sets Us Apart
Texas Sodium Bentonite is privately held, we run our own mine, handle our own sales, and answer our own phones. We’ve been at it for over 25 years, and customers keep coming back because we do what we say.
From the mine to your job site, every order is processed, packaged, and prepared for pickup or nationwide delivery. Whether you need a few bags or multiple truckloads, we make it easy to get the right product.

Using surface mining methods suited to the Big Bend region's terrain, we extract sodium bentonite directly from our Alpine ranch.
Once mined, the material is processed into distinct particle sizes, including chips, granules, and fine powders, to match the specific needs of each application.
Our packaging options cater to projects of every size, from residential ponds to large commercial operations.
